Milano

The Lombardy Region has allocated €100,000 to ATS Città Metropolitana Milano and another €100,000 to ATS Insubria. The funds will be used to create new cat shelters in the metropolitan area of Milan and to expand the municipal dog shelter in Varese.

Funding to Improve Conditions for Pets

“These funds,” stated Regional Welfare Assessor Guido Bertolaso, who proposed the recently approved resolution by the Regional Government, “represent a sign of attention towards our ‘four-legged friends’. The level of civilization of a territory can also be measured by the virtuous management of animals. The Lombardy Region has always been very sensitive to this issue. I recall that, over the years, there have been numerous initiatives aimed at improving the conditions of pets in facilities managed by the ATS.”

The Appeal

“I take this opportunity,” concluded the Regional Assessor, “to appeal to Lombardy residents. Do not abandon your ‘four-legged friends’, neither for vacations nor for any other reason. Not only for the legal consequences, but above all because no one should suffer the pain of abandonment.”
